Wedding is in Sept. The female attendents are wearing tea length pewter dresses and the guys in black tuxs. the accent color is tangerine. The bride want everyone is shades of grey, sliver black or orange. I am a large woman with red hair. I look horrible in black ( like death)and silver or champagne makes me look like a head on a lump. I have tried to get her to let me wear navy but she is very hurt by this idea. Her mom is wearing black and so is her step mom. Any suggestions?

I am attending a wedding in Indiana PA, Late Oct , 2008. Is it OK to wear a cap sleeve dress. The dress is a wrap that goes below the knee but has what I would call short cap sleeves cover the shoulder and part of the arm. It will be pretty chilly if not cold the day of the wedding. I am attending a late September wedding in PA. It's a church wedding at 3:30pm with the reception immediately following (5pm) at a community center. I have just below the knee dress - basically simple - cap sleeve, v-neck/back, gathered below the bust, black with some royal blue pattern weaving through. While I obviously hope my dress choice is a good one; my main question concerns hosiery - I'm going to get some "spiffy" new black closed toed shoes ... do I need hosiery? I'm 44 - and grew up in the hosiery era .. but it seems to be worn less and less (I know I wear it less). Is this a younger person phenomenon? I read somewhere that hosiery is "out" .. but I don't live in CA or FL ... and I imagine it still adds a bit of formality? Sans hosiery is certainly more comfy ... and I wouldn't do it without some tan on my otherwise white legs.

What should I wear to a late afternoon wedding in Chicago in late September? The wedding itself is at 4 PM on a Saturday at a cathedral while the reception follows at the Newberry Library, which to me indicates that it might be a bit formal. My sister who is 52 will be attending an outdoor wedding in August at 6pm in NC. Needless to say, it will be very hot and humid. There was no mention of guest attire on the invitation. It is going to be held on the grounds of a very beautiful old mansion that is now a hotel. She asked me for advice and I just don't have any. I am older than her and I have no idea what I would wear. I've seen in some fashion mags this fall to mix it up with color, fushia with purple footwear, yellow with green, etc for evening.
How about a black cocktail dress with red peep toe pumps? I'm so sick of black with black but really sticking to a budget and dont want to buy a new dress since this black one is wonderful in fit and fabric.
We dont get to much good advise here in the midwest, send help!

I have this beautiful dress I bought this fall that I've been dying to wear again: it's a burnt orange halter dress with a slight coppery shimmer. It falls mid-calf.
